Bijou Phillips Makes First Public Outing Since Kidney Transplant

Bijou Phillips, in a blue tank top and denim shorts, sat at a Malibu table under a large sun hat on Sunday, enjoying a bottled beverage with her boyfriend. The sighting, captured by photographers and published by Page Six, marked the actress’s first public appearance since undergoing a life-saving kidney transplant earlier this month.

Phillips, 46, was out with fashion businessman Jamie Mazur, 56, who wore camouflage shorts and a white T-shirt with a yellow smiley face. The couple has been dating since 2024.

On July 7, the "Almost Famous" star revealed she had received the transplant at UCLA amid a battle with kidney disease. She praised her surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Veale, for a procedure that left her with minimal pain. "He only cut the facia! He didn’t cut the muscles so I didn’t even really need much pain medication at all, just Tylenol!," she wrote. "I feel at five days out like I did four months after my last surgery!"

A Second Chance

This was Phillips’s second transplant. She first received a kidney from a friend, but Page Six reported in February that the organ had failed, leaving her in urgent need of another. It seems her rep confirmed at the time that she was hospitalized and receiving dialysis, noting that "time was of the essence." Phillips reportedly appealed for a donor, writing on social media, "I need help finding a kidney," and "I’m asking as a friend, a sister, an aunt, and most importantly, as a single mother to an incredible and brave daughter. I am in need of a kidney."

Following the successful surgery, she expressed profound gratitude. "I am beyond beyond grateful to everyone who rushed into help me, get checked to donate, you are all hero’s!"
