Caleb and Fleur Shomo File for Divorce Two Months After His Coming Out

"Our nearly 14yrs of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure love," Fleur Shomo wrote on Instagram in May, just hours after her husband, Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo, came out as gay. That chapter has now officially closed. The former couple jointly filed for divorce in the Los Angeles Superior Court on July 13, according to court records obtained by multiple outlets.

The filing comes nearly two months after Caleb, 33, shared his truth with the world. "I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further," he shared in a statement posted to Instagram on May 23. "I am a proudly gay man." He described the journey as something he'd "been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now."

Fleur addressed their split the same day, confirming they had parted ways. "Nobody will know anything about our marriage like we do," she wrote, adding that she was "already" missing her marriage and husband "more than anything." She concluded by saying their story was a good one and now it was done.

The Journey to Self-Acceptance

In his coming-out statement, Caleb opened up about the difficult path that led him there. He said it had been "difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact." For years, he explored his struggles through Beartooth's music, which he called "very self deprecating," but admitted he "wouldn't allow myself to really dig up the roots for so long."

A major turning point was his decision to get sober. After spending a "decade burying feelings with alcohol," Caleb reportedly said he wasn't able to start reconciling with his sexuality until he chose a different path. His message to others, it seems, was one of grace and hard work: "I encourage anyone who's struggling with who they are to give yourself grace," he wrote. "Do the hard work instead of burying it down as deep as you physically can thinking it will change like I did."

While the divorce filing marks the legal end of their nearly 14-year union, both have expressed a foundation of love and support. Fleur reportedly acknowledged the past few months as "a very disorientating [sic] and hurtful time to navigate," but her words in May painted a picture of a deep, private bond now transitioning into a new form.
