Elin Hilderbrand Has No Interest in Writing for TV, Despite Book Adaptations

Author Elin Hilderbrand stated in an interview with The New York Times that she has no interest in writing for television, despite several of her books being adapted. According to Deadline, Hilderbrand made the comments this weekend, as the series adaptation of her novel “The Five-Star Weekend” premiered on Peacock.

“I have no interest in writing television,” Hilderbrand told the newspaper. She explained that while she is open to discussing adaptations with writers, she prefers to let them run the show. “I will talk to the writer before they get started,” she said. “It’s their job to turn it into compelling television.”

Hilderbrand revealed she is already working on a new book, “The Novelists.” The story, which she says has been gestating for a long time, is about four writers who meet at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. “I really wanted to write about writers and professional jealousy,” she told the Times.

Her next novel, “The Thoroughbreds,” co-written with her daughter, is scheduled for release in September. This news comes as her work continues to find success on screen. “The Five-Star Weekend” series, created by Bekah Brunstetter and starring Jennifer Garner, is now streaming. Her first adaptation, “The Perfect Couple,” was a hit for Netflix and is getting a second season.
