Jonathan Bailey, Ella Purnell Lead Audible's Star-Studded 'Dracula' Audio Adaptation

Audible has announced a new multi-language audio adaptation of Bram Stoker's "Dracula," with the English-language version starring Jonathan Bailey as Dracula, according to Variety. The English, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish, and LatAm Spanish versions are set to launch on October 1, 2026.

Jonathan Bailey, known for his roles in "Bridgerton" and "Wicked," leads the English cast. He is joined by Ella Purnell ("Fallout") as Mina Murray and Aimee Lou Wood ("The White Lotus") as Lucy Westenra. The ensemble also includes Louis Partridge, David Jonsson, Lesley Manville, and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Professor Van Helsing.

Who else is in the cast?

The supporting cast for the English version features Johnny Flynn as Renfield and Francis Lovehall as Arthur, as reported by Deadline. The production boasts a full ensemble cast.

What about the international versions?

Audible is adapting the Gothic horror novel into seven languages, each with its own local stars. The French version stars Omar Sy and Deva Cassel. Riccardo Scamarcio and Benedetta Porcaroli lead the Italian cast. Matthias Schweighöfer and Jeanne Goursaud headline the German production. Castilian Spanish and Latin American Spanish versions feature Asier Etxeandía, Claudia Salas, José María de Tavira, and Esmeralda Pimentel.

The German version is scheduled for a February 9, 2027 premiere. A Brazilian Portuguese adaptation is slated for later in 2027, with its cast still to be announced.

Who is directing the Audible production?

Mary Lambert, director of the film adaptation of Stephen King's "Pet Sematary," makes her audiobook directorial debut on the project. The novel is adapted by writer Robyn Ahern. It features an original score by composer Ilan Eshkeri.

Aurelie de Troyer, International Head of Audible Content, highlighted the platform's approach. The production aims to elevate the psychological thriller at the story's core, framing the battle between Mina and Dracula as its heart.

This "Dracula" adaptation joins other ambitious Audible Originals like "Pride and Prejudice" and a full-cast recording of the "Harry Potter" series. The English, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish, and Latin American Spanish versions are available for preorder now ahead of their October 2026 launch.
