Broadway and 'Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' Actor Josh Grisetti Dies at 44

How do you say goodbye to a friend who was a brother on stage and the best man at your wedding? For actor Rob McClure, the task was heartbreaking. He took to Instagram on Sunday to share the devastating news that his friend, actor Josh Grisetti, had died by suicide on Friday. Grisetti was 44.

"It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday," McClure wrote in a tribute post featuring a carousel of photos of the two together. McClure, also 44 and known for his role in "The Good Fight," expressed his grief and confusion. "I’m not ready to even attempt to understand. My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this," he continued.

The two shared a deep bond forged in the theater. McClure recalled "playing his brother onstage for years" and "having the honor of being the Best Man at his wedding." He also highlighted Grisetti's work transforming the Musical Theatre program at Cal State Fullerton. McClure and his wife, Maggie Lakis, are "beyond heartbroken," he wrote, adding, "Communities around the world will never be the same without him. We love you Josh. Just a cataclysmic loss." He concluded by noting that information about a memorial would "come in time."

The news prompted an immediate outpouring of grief from colleagues.

Grisetti was perhaps best known to TV audiences for his role on the acclaimed Amazon series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ family."
