Meg Stalter returned to the Broadway stage last night, resuming her lead role in Cole Escola’s "Oh, Mary!" after a week-long absence. According to Deadline, the comedian was out due to bronchitis.

Just before the Friday evening performance, Stalter posted an Instagram Story from her dressing room at the Lyceum Theatre. "Planning on being back in the show tonight as long as my voice doesn’t give out," she wrote. She received a standing ovation at curtain call, with fans celebrating her return online.

Her absence had sparked strange speculation on Reddit that she was actually at New York's Comedy Cellar instead of being sick. Stalter directly confronted the rumor in a prior Instagram post. "There’s a whole thread on Reddit I guess about how people think I was at the comedy cellar and I’d just like to go on record saying I was not at the comedy cellar," she said. "I’m very sick and have no voice but doing everything I can to be back in the shows this weekend."

After the show, she continued her rebuttal—silently. Greeting fans at the stage door, Stalter wore a handwritten sign around her neck that read: "The Princess is on vocal rest!! But she was NEVER at the Comedy Cellar!"
