Dan Trachtenberg Tackles Animated 'Freddy the 13th' Movie for Paramount
The 'Prey' director will co-direct a family-friendly horror comedy based on the indie comic, announced at the Annecy festival.

The filmmaker, known for recent entries in the Predator franchise, will co-direct the project with comic creator Yehudi Mercado. The announcement was made today at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
What is 'Freddy the 13th' about?
The story follows a family vacation gone wrong when fun Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the Boogeyman and inherits his powers. He must then go on a quest to break the resulting curse. Paramount has stated the film will blend horror elements into a children's animation, aiming to deliver "wholesome PG-rated scares and laughs to the whole family."
Who else is working on the film?
Yehudi Mercado, the creator of the original indie comic, will co-direct alongside Trachtenberg. Producers on the project include Trachtenberg and Ben Rosenblatt. The film is currently untitled.
This new project falls under the Paramount Animation division, which is run by Jennifer Dodge.
