Seth Green Reveals ‘Star Wars: Detours’ Will Finally Screen at Lucas Museum
The long-lost comedy series, shelved after Disney's Lucasfilm buyout, will be exhibited when the Los Angeles museum opens in September.

Seth Green announced at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday that the previously unreleased animated series Star Wars: Detours will finally be exhibited at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art when it opens this September.
The show is one of the legendarily "lost" Star Wars projects, according to a report from Gold Derby. Green and his producing partner Matthew Senreich made the announcement during a panel touting the new Los Angeles museum.

The series was a comedic take on the galaxy far, far away, born from Green and Senreich's work on the Emmy-winning Robot Chicken. George Lucas personally approached the duo to create it, with Senreich noting, "This is something we got to make with George, and he had his hands all over it." Green elaborated that Lucas wanted to make "The Simpsons in the Star Wars universe."
Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the completed series featured 39 episodes with voice actors like Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), and Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks) reprising their roles.
Why was the series shelved?
Star Wars: Detours was shelved following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. According to the report, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told the creators the company wanted to focus on relaunching the franchise with the sequel films and felt a comedic cartoon would undermine that strategy.
As recently as last year, Green expressed doubt the series would ever be released, citing the cost of updating it for modern streaming. The new plan circumvents that hurdle by presenting it as a museum exhibit.
