Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom Mask Revealed in Avengers: Doomsday Concept Art

The first look at Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom has been revealed in concept art for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, according to Variety. The art was shared online by former Marvel Studios director of visual development Andy Park.

Park posted the illustration to X on July 11, calling the project "the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios." His post stated the art "reveals the characters & their looks for the first time."

What does the concept art show?

The shared image provides the first clear look at the mask for Victor von Doom, the iconic Marvel villain played by Downey. It also offers first looks at several returning X-Men characters, including Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn). A mysterious image of Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, is featured at the center of the artwork.

Who is behind the art?

Andy Park was a key figure in Marvel's visual development department for 16 years, leading the design work on over 40 films. He was part of Disney layoffs in April 2026 and announced his departure from the studio, marking "the end of an era." His work on Avengers: Doomsday was his final project in that leadership role.

Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Joe Russo and features a sprawling cast including Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, and Vanessa Kirby. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 18, 2026.
