Ronan Keating has announced he is working on a new album, with its first single set to feature Ed Sheeran, according to Billboard. The Irish pop veteran also revealed plans for a special concert with legendary tenor Jose Carreras later this year.
Keating told Billboard he is "just in the process of making a record right now." He said the first single will be with Ed Sheeran and Wheatus frontman Brendan Brown. "The three of us wrote the song earlier in the year, and it was just one of those moments," he said. "I knew this is going to be a big moment."
How did songwriting help him grieve?
The album marks a creative resurgence for Keating, who struggled to write after the tragic death of his brother, Ciaran, in a car accident in 2023. He said the creative block lifted earlier this year while in Australia, when he and his wife Storm wrote a song together. "It was the first song I’d written since my brother died," Keating explained. "That was the catalyst that has allowed me to get this album moving and going." He added that the process was deeply personal: "I think music and songwriting has allowed me to grieve."
What other performance plans does he have?
Beyond the studio, Keating is preparing for a significant live performance. On December 5, he will join Jose Carreras for the Carreras & Friends concert at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, Australia. Keating expressed his excitement about the opportunity, noting a previous performance with another legendary tenor. "For me to get to sing with Pavarotti was this huge moment, and now Jose is there, and I have this opportunity to tick that box," he said. This event comes amid his ongoing 26th anniversary tour for his hit "Life Is A Rollercoaster."
