The Rolling Stones' 'Foreign Tongues' Voted Fans' Favorite New Music

The Rolling Stones' new album, Foreign Tongues, has been voted the favorite new music of the week by fans, according to Billboard. The 14-track collection brought in more than 42% of the vote in the outlet's weekly poll.

Listeners voted in a poll published on Friday, July 10, choosing the classic rock band's just-released set over new music from other major artists. Foreign Tongues rose above releases from YEONJUN, Beyoncé, and Feid to claim the top spot.

What is on the new album?

It includes 12 new original songs and two covers: Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good" and Chuck Berry's "Beautiful Delilah." The rock veterans recorded the project with Hackney Diamonds producer Andrew Watt at Metropolis Studios in West London.

The sessions welcomed an impressive array of contributors. Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers all contributed. Longtime collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, and Steve Jordan also contributed. Drums played by the late Charlie Watts, recorded during one of his final studio sessions before his 2021 death, are heard on the track "Hit Me in the Head."

What did the band say about recording?

Mick Jagger recounted the intensity of the sessions upon the album's release. "It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues," he said. "We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion from everyone."

Ronnie Wood described the room's vibe as "so creative," noting the full band was "on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take."

The album was preceded by the singles "In the Stars" and "Jealous Lover." In the final poll results, YEONJUN’s No Labels: Part 02 trailed with 36% of the vote, followed by Beyoncé’s "Morning Dew (Donk)" with nearly 8%, and Feid’s A Xon De Que with more than 7%.
