Alisha Dhillon, Quentin Lee Reunite for New Vertical Series ‘Unleeshed’

Alisha Dhillon and Quentin Lee are reuniting to co-create the vertical series ‘Unleeshed,’ according to an exclusive report from Variety. The pair previously worked together on the Canadian Screen Award-winning series ‘Comedy Invasion.’

Dhillon wrote the series and will star in it, with Lee serving as co-creator, executive producer, and director. The show will be produced through Lee’s company, Margin Films.

What is ‘Unleeshed’ about?

Season 1 follows a South Asian standup comic and aspiring actor in Los Angeles who puts her ambitions on hold to care for her ailing father. The series explores her struggle with self-doubt as she navigates the world of comedy and roast battles.

When and where will it premiere?

The completed first season is scheduled to broadcast worldwide on the streaming platform Asian American Movies (AAM.tv) for Thanksgiving 2026. It will serve as the platform’s inaugural original vertical series.

Lee expressed his immediate connection to the project. “When I first read the pilot for ‘Unleeshed,’ I immediately fell in love with the world Alisha created – a world drawn from her own lived experiences,” he said. He saw an opportunity in vertical storytelling to adapt the pilot into a proof of concept for future seasons.

Dhillon shared the personal motivation behind the series. “I wrote ‘Unleeshed’ to remind myself and others that confidence is built through action and our biggest limits are self-made,” she added.

Principal photography is set to begin in August. The platform AAM.tv, which hosts a curated lineup of diasporic Asian content, can be accessed via iOS, Android, or Roku devices.
