AMC has released first-look images for the upcoming eight-episode drama series Yaga, according to TV Insider. The series, starring Hudson Williams and Carrie-Anne Moss, will debut on AMC+ later this year.
Yaga is a Crave Original series based on the hit play by Kat Sandler, who also serves as writer and showrunner. The series reimagines the myth of Baba Yaga as a contemporary mystery thriller set in a small coastal town. It is produced by Front Street Pictures and Blink49 Studios in partnership with Crave.
What is the series about?
The show follows private investigator Rapp, played by Noah Reid, as he arrives in a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a young heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park, played by Hudson Williams. He finds himself at odds with a local detective, Carson (Clark Backo), and a charismatic university professor, Katherine (Carrie-Anne Moss).
"Yaga has evolved from myth to stage to my first greenlit series, reclaiming the wicked witch and reshaping her as an incendiary feminist antihero for our time," said Sandler in a statement provided to TV Insider. The series will consist of eight half-hour episodes.
Who else is in the cast?
In addition to Williams, Moss, Reid, and Backo, the cast includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Katharine Isabelle, Hiro Kanagawa, Emilija Baranac, Anisa Harris, and Georgia Acken. Williams finished filming his portion of the series on March 11.
