Tracy Morgan Comedy 'Crutch' Canceled by Paramount+ After One Season

Paramount+ has canceled the multi-camera comedy series 'Crutch' after one season, according to a report from Variety. The show, which starred Tracy Morgan, debuted on the streaming service in November 2025.

News of the cancellation comes as little surprise, as the series failed to find a significant audience upon its debut.

Why was 'Crutch' canceled?

The show's fate was sealed by a combination of low viewership and a strategic shift at Paramount+. Following the acquisition of Paramount by Skydance, the streamer's leadership indicated that multi-camera comedies would not be a programming priority, as CBS already excels in the genre. As a result, 'Crutch' was the lone remaining original comedy series on Paramount+.

Adding to the show's challenges, the options on the cast expired at the end of 2025, allowing the actors to move on to other projects. Star Tracy Morgan had already filmed 'Crutch' when he was tapped to star in the NBC pilot 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins' in March 2025. By the time that NBC series was renewed for a second season in May 2026, Morgan was committed to it first.

What was 'Crutch' about?

The series was a spin-off set in the world of the CBS sitcom 'The Neighborhood.' It centered on Francois "Frank" Crutchfield, a brash yet beloved Harlem shop owner played by Tracy Morgan, whose world is turned upside down when his adult son and daughter move back into the family home.

The supporting cast included Jermaine Fowler, Kecia Lewis, Adrianna Mitchell, Adrian Martinez, Braxton Paul, and Finn Maloney. The series was executive produced by Cedric the Entertainer and Eric C. Rhone and created by Owen Smith, who also served as showrunner.

With the cancellation, Paramount+'s current live-action comedy slate is reduced to the Australian import 'Colin from Accounts.' The streamer is now focusing its development and marketing efforts on dramas like Taylor Sheridan's 'Landman' and the 'Yellowstone' spinoff 'Dutton Ranch.'
