Descendants: Wicked Wonderland Stars Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker Talk Costumes, Songs & Sixth Film Hopes
The Disney Channel and Disney+ sequel introduces new villains and characters as its stars reflect on their characters' evolution.

“It was so special; it felt like I never left,”
Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker discussed their roles in the new Disney Channel and Disney+ movie Descendants: Wicked Wonderland in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The film is now streaming on both platforms.
The sequel continues the story of Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella, from the fourth film Rise of Red. A new villain, Maddox Hatter, emerges after the timeline is altered.
What do the stars say about their characters?
Cantrall said returning to play Red felt natural. "It was so special; it felt like I never left," the actress said. She noted her character's evolution from a rebel to a leader who bridges the gap between Hero Kids and Villain Kids.
Baker, who filmed scenes in her hometown of Vancouver, enjoyed exploring a different side of Chloe. "Goody Two-Shoes Chloe Charming will always be my girl, but it was really fun to see what heartbreak looks like on somebody," she said. She hopes viewers take away a lesson about empathy from her character's struggles.
What are the new movie's highlights?
Both actresses praised the film's practical sets and detailed costumes. Cantrall pointed out the heart-shaped Easter eggs in Red's wardrobe. "The closer you look at Red’s wardrobe, you’ll always find the heart details somewhere in there," she said, noting one outfit had 14 heart logos.
The movie is driven by musical numbers. Cantrall named "For Once in My Life," a duet she performs with Alexandro Byrd, as her favorite song. When asked about their favorite new characters, Cantrall picked Hazel, played by Kiara Romero, while Baker joked, "You’re trying to get me beaten up in that group chat. Holy cow, those are rough waters."
Do they want a sixth Descendants movie?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both actresses expressed their hopes for a sixth film in the franchise. Cantrall reflected on the impact of playing a character who inspires young fans, saying it "feels really special."
